From Our Vets

Capstar (Nitenpyram) has turned out to be very useful as a flea adulticide in both dogs and cats. When dogs and cats come into our hospital and have any signs of fleas, we immediately give them a Capstar pill. Administration is safe and can be used in cats or dogs at least 4 weeks of age and weighing at least 2 lbs. Some of the really bad flea infestations can be treated daily. We usually combine the immediate kill from the Capstar with a topical flea preventative that has a long residual activity, such as Frontline Plus, Advantage II, or Revolution. This is the most widely used oral adulticide and certainly has its place in an overall flea control program.
