Gentizol has three active ingredients:
- Gentamicin, an antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria
- Betamethasone, an adrenocorticoid steroid
- Clotrimazole, an antifungal agent

Gentizol Ointment Warnings
Keep Gentizol out of the reach of children and pets.
Gentizol should not be ingested orally.
Do not use in pets with ruptured ear drums.
Gentizol may cause temporary hearing loss in older dogs.
Gentizol should not be used if your pet is pregnant or nursing.
Do not use Gentizol if your pet shows hypersensitivity to the ointment during treatment.
Store at room temperature.
Use with caution if your pet suffers from renal insufficiency.

Serious Side Effects
If given for prolonged periods of time, Gentizol may cause immunosuppression. Wounds may not heal properly if Gentizol is used for longer than 7 days.
Use of steroids for long periods can cause pets to have trouble naturally producing steroids after stopping medication.
Long time steroid use can cause Cushing's Syndrome in dogs.

Gentizol Ointment Directions
Follow the advice give by your veterinarian.
Always follow the instructions printed on the prescription label.
Shake bottle before use.
Clean and dry the external ear before using Gentizol.
Clip hair near the treatment area.
Check to make sure your pet's ear drum is in tact. Applying Gentizol to an ear with a ruptured ear drum can cause the infection to spread.
Gentizol Ointment Dosage
For dogs weighing less than 30lbs:
Apply 4 drops from the ointment tube (or 2 drops from the 215 gram bottle) to your pet's ear canal.
Apply drops two times daily.
Give Gentizol for 7 days.
For dogs weighing 30lbs or more:
Apply 8 drops from the ointment tube (or 4 drops from the 215 gram bottle) to your pet's ear canal.
