From Our Vets
I’m going to go on record and say that RIMADYL (carprofen) has improved the quality of life for geriatric dogs more so than any other drug I have ever used. The testimonials from clients are quite remarkable.
Dogs that had stopped playing and could not interact with their caregivers are playing like puppies again. When taking this very effective non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), the pain of osteoarthritis diminishes and off for a run they go! I have actually had people come in to euthanize an older arthritic pet because of its pain and discomfort level, decide to try RIMADYL, and discover their beloved companion bouncing around in the backyard a few days after instituting therapy.
All non-steroidal drugs have limitations and concerns, so you must use the product under the direction of your veterinarian. However, when appropriately monitored, RIMADYL is a very effective product whose benefits far outweigh the potential side effects. I have dispensed this drug to thousands of my geriatric patients and have had excellent responses. I have frequently commented to clients that I wish there was a drug as effective for osteoarthritis and pain in people. I would certainly be standing in line to receive my allotment!
