  • Benazepril belongs to a class of drugs known as angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE-inhibitors).
  • ACE-inhibitors are classified as vasodilators because of their relaxing effect on blood vessels.
  • ACE-inhibitors reduce concentrations of harmful chemicals and hormones that injure the heart muscle in animals with heart failure.

Cardalis Warnings
  • Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Cardalis should not be used in animals with a known hypersensitivity or allergy to spironolactone, benazepril, or any other ACE inhibitors.
  • Do not use in animals that...
  • are pregnant or lactating
  • have high potassium levels or low amounts of sodium in the blood
  • suffer from hypoadrenocorticism (Addison's disease)
  • suffer from Cushing's disease and are taking the medication mitotane
  • suffer from heart failure cause by aortic valve or pulmonary valve issues
  • suffer from kidney problems and are receiving nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)-- this includes carprofen, meloxicam, and grapiprant
  • Use caution in pets...
    • with liver or kidney disease
    • with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus
    • that are used for breeding
  • Cardalis may interact with some other medications. Inform your veterinarian of any and all medications your pet may be taking.
  • Cardalis will cause your pet to urinate more frequently.
  • Store at room temperature.

Cardalis Directions
  • Use as directed by your veterinarian.
  • Follow the instructions printed on the prescription label.
  • Store at room temperature.
  • Be sure to complete the prescription to ensure a full recovery, even if your pet seems to be improving or unless you consult with your veterinarian.
  • Duration of administration depends on the condition being treated, the response to the medication, and the development of any adverse effects.
  • Allow your pet access to plenty of water while giving this medication.
  • Give Cardalis with food and water to lessen stomach upset.

Dosage FAQs
  • In the case of a missed dose of Cardalis, give it as soon as you remember or wait until it is time to give the next dose. DO NOT GIVE A DOUBLE DOSE OF CARDALIS.
  • In the case of an overdose of Cardalis, seek attention from your veterinarian.

    • excessive thirst
