Mirtazapine

• Mirtazapine is available by prescription only.

• Mirtazapine has anti-nausea and antiemetic effects on dogs and cats.

• Mirtazapine is often given to animals undergoing chemotherapy or to animals suffering from stomach diseases, renal failure, or other conditions where treatment causes a loss of appetite and nausea.

• The anti-nausea properties of mirtazapine block signals from the intestines and stomach to the brain that would otherwise trigger nausea.

• Keep out of reach of children and pets.

• Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to mirtazapine.

• Do not use within two weeks of a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI).
