Phenylpropanolamine Basics
  • Phenylpropanolamine is available by prescription only.
  • Phenylpropanolamine is used to treat urinary incontinence in dogs.
  • Phenylpropanolamine helps tighten the sphincter muscle in the bladder to control urine leakage.
  • Due to its classification in some states as a controlled substance, Phenylpropanolamine cannot be shipped to the following states:

  • Phenylpropanolamine is available in an oral suspension compounded at PetMart Pharmacy.

Phenylpropanolamine Warnings
  • Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Phenylpropanolamine is not intended for human use.
  • Phenylpropanolamine should not be used in animals with known allergies to this drug.
  • Phenylpropanolamine should not be used in pregnant or lactating animals.

  • Do not give within two weeks of using any MAOi (such as Preventic Collars, Anipryl, or Selegiline).

  • any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as aspirin or Rimadyl)
  • digoxin
  • tricyclic antipepressants (clomipramine)
  • beta blockers (atenolol)
  • any other prescription medications


Phenylpropanolamine Directions
  • Use as directed by your veterinarian.
  • Follow the instructions printed on the prescription label.
  • Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.
  • Shake well before use.
  • May be given with or without food. Administering with food may help alleviate symptoms of upset stomach.
  • Complete the entire prescription, even if your pet seems to be improving, unless instructed otherwise by your veterinarian.
