Senvelgo (velagliflozin oral solution)

• Senvelgo is available by prescription only.

• Senvelgo is used for treatment of cats with diabetes mellitus by improving glycemic control. It is for use in otherwise healthy cats who have NOT been treated with insulin.

• Senvelgo is an oral hypoglycemic drug that has the active ingredient velagliflozin.

• Velagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, which reduces blood glucose.

• Senvelgo is a possible alternative to insulin treatment in newly diagnosed felines with diabetes. 

• Senvelgo is easy-to-use oral liquid that is given once daily by mouth or applied onto wet food.

• Senvelgo is available in two sizes:

• 12mg/mL, 12mL Bottle

• 12mg/mL, 30mL Bottle

• Keep out of the reach of children and pets.

• Do NOT use in cats with diabetes mellitus who have been treated previously with insulin, who are receiving insulin, or in cats with insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Using this medication during these circumstances increases risk of diabetic ketoacidosis or euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis and death.

• Store at room temperature. Refrigeration is not necessary before or after opening. 

• Senvelgo is good for up to 6 months after opening. 

• Give by mouth or administered on wet food once daily.

• Senvelgo is administered using a pound-calibrated syringe.

• Immediately discontinue and contact your veterinarian if there is a sudden onset of any of the following symptoms:

• hyporexia

• anorexia

• lethargy

• dehydration

• weight loss
