Thyro-Tabs Canine

• Thyro-Tabs are available by prescription only.

• Thyro-Tabs (levothyroxine) is a synthetic hormone used as a replacement therapy in conditions in which the thyroid gland is not producing an adequate amount of hormones.

• Thyro-Tabs treat hypothyroidism.

• Synthetic thyroxine (levothyroxine) works much like the naturally occurring thyroxine to maintain normal metabolism in the body.

• Proper levels of thyroid hormones have significant beneficial effects on brain, heart, muscle, nerve, and kidney function.

• Thyro-Tabs are available in multiple sizes:

• 0.1 mg

• 0.2 mg

• 0.3 mg

• 0.4 mg

• 0.5 mg

• 0.6 mg

• 0.7 mg

• 0.8 mg

• 1.0 mg

• Keep out of the reach of children and pets.

• Do not use in animals with a known hypersensitivity to levothyroxine.

• Frequent blood tests to measure thyroid hormone levels may be necessary during Thyro-Tab treatment.

• Do not use if your pet has ever had thyrotoxicosis or an uncontrolled adrenal gland problem.

• Use with caution if your pet has...

• anemia

• diabetes

• heart disease

• pituitary or adrenal glands problems

• Tell your veterinarian if your pet is receiving insulin.

• Inform your veterinarian of any and all medications your pet may be taking before starting Thyro-Tabs.

• Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.

• Use as directed by your veterinarian.

• Follow the instructions printed on the prescription label.

• Store Thyro-Tabs at room temperature.

• Be sure to complete the prescription to ensure a full recovery, even if your pet seems to be improving, unless instructed otherwise by your veterinarian.

• For best results, give Thyro-Tabs 30 minutes before food.

• Tablets may be given with food.

• Allow your pet access to plenty of water.

• In the case of a missed dose of Thyro-Tabs, give it as soon as you remember or wait until it is time to give the next dose. DO NOT GIVE A DOUBLE DOSE OF THYRO-TABS.

• In the case of an overdose of Thyro-Tabs, seek immediate attention from your veterinarian.

• The following symptoms could be signs of an overdose:

• panting

• increased thirst

• frequent urination

• fainting

• dizziness

• Allergic reactions and serious side effects are rare, but in the case of an allergic reaction or a serious side effect, seek veterinary attention.
