IV Fluids Basics

IV Fluids are available by prescription only.

Lactated ringers is an electrolyte solution that is used to help dehydrated animals replace much needed fluids and electrolytes.

The causes of dehydration may vary, but animals suffering from kidney disease and nausea are often treated with lactated ringers.

Lactated ringers is administered with a macro-drip I.V. set that is either given intravenous (I.V.) or subcutaneously with a needle (provided by your veterinarian).
