Ondansetron

• Ondansetron is available by prescription only.

• Ondansetron is used to treat severe vomiting in cats and dogs, such as the vomiting associated with chemotherapy.

• Ondansetron inhibits serotonin responses to treat vomiting.

• Ondansetron is used as an extra-label drug by veterinarians.

• Keep out of the reach of children and pets.

• Use with caution in animals that are pregnant or nursing.

• Tell your veterinarian any and all medications your pet is taking before starting ondansetron.

• Do not use in pets sensitive to ondansetron or other similar medications

• Collies may be sensitive to ondansetron.

• Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.

• Use as directed by your veterinarian.

• Follow the instructions printed on the prescription label.

• Ondansetron may be given with or without food.

• Use caution when handling ondansetron.

• Give 0.5-1 mg/kg of body weight.

• Give by mouth 2 times each day.

• Give 0.1-1 mg/ kg of body weight.

• Give by mouth 2-4 times each day.
